Longman & Van Grack Sponsors International Art Exhibit: Quilting for Change
Longman & Van Grack is proud to sponsor the powerful international quilt exhibit this weekend by three collaborating organizations working for social change presented by Artists & Makers Studios in Rockville, Maryland. The exhibit, “Quilting for Change,” raises awareness on global issues that affect women, and empowers quilters to become agents for social change. Solar Sister eradicates energy poverty by empowering women with economic opportunity. The Advocacy Project helps marginalized communities tell their story, claim their rights and produce social change.
Join us for a special two-night opening in three galleries to view this powerful work. The regular opening reception/open studio event will be held Friday, Sept. 11, 2015. A second catered opening will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015. Representatives from all three organizations will be available to discuss their work and share the stories behind these art quilts made by women from around the world. “Quilting for Change” continues through September 28, 2015. Viewing hours are 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, M-F and weekends by appointment.
