As such, Longman & Van Grack is a Member of the Outdoor Industry Association, and the firm is proud to be attending the Association's Capitol Summit in Washington, DC this week. Longman & Van Grack Attorney to Speak at American Bar Association’s Live Ethics CLE Presentation

On Wednesday, Longman & Van Grack Attorney Robb Longman will be a featured speaker at aLive Ethics CLE Webinar titled: "Going Out on Your Own and Changing Firms - Practical and Ethical Considerations"sponsored by the American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of Taxation. Details and registration for the event can be found through the ABA's website: Live Ethics CLE Webinar Robbwill discuss both ethical and practical issues that arise when attorneys change law firms or begin their own law practice after being with a firm. The careful attorney must plan to deal with these issues. Ethical issues discussed will include, among others, the duty to inform clients of your change in firms, client confidentiality concerns, and conflict of interest issues that may arise as a result of the change in firms. Robbwill also discuss how to handle issues with not just clients but also on networking, notifying your current firm and marketing issues that new firms face. Longman & Van Grack Attorney to Chair Presentation and Speak at ABA Tax Section’s Midyear Meeting

Longman & Van Grack attorney, Robb Longman, will be in Houston, TX at the American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of Taxation 2015 Midyear Meeting this weekend as Chair of the ABA's Tax Practice Management, which is hosting a presentationtitled: "Practical Tips for Hiring and Retaining Good Tax Lawyers." The presentation will discuss the best hiring practices in both the private and government sectors, including the ethical and legal concerns associated with hiring practices. Robb will also be a Guest Speaker at the Midyear Meeting's"Careers in Tax" Dinner. Robb Longman is currently Vice-Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association's Tax Section and Chair of the American Bar Association's Tax Practice Management Committee. Longman & Van Grack Attorney Named Chair of U.S. Olympic Center of Excellence

Longman & Van Grack is proud to announce that one of our sports & recreational law attorneys, Adam Van Grack, has recently been named Chairperson of the Board and President of a regional U.S. Olympic Center of Excellence: the Potomac Whitewater Racing Center ("PWRC"). PWRC is a nonprofit organization that focuses on the daily racing, coaching, and functional needs of aspiring and world-class athletes in national and international competitions. PWRC currently works with the reigning Whitewater Canoe World Champion, Fabien Lafevre, and multiple other U.S. Olympians. Adam has actually held a title on the Board at PWRC for almost a decade. Longman & Van Grack is proud to have an association through one of our Sports and Recreation Law attorneys with this outstanding nonprofit sports organization.  

Longman & Van Grack Welcomes Theodore Kiviat as Of Counsel

The Bethesda and Rockville, Maryland law firm of Longman & Van Grack, LLC is happy to announce a new addition to its commercial litigation practice. Seasoned litigator, Attorney Theodore (Ted) Kiviat, has joined the firm as an Of Counsel. Attorney Ted Kiviat is an experienced civil litigator. Attorney Kiviat began his legal career in California in 1992. He worked for various firms in the areas of products liability, construction defects, insurance claims, municipal and commercial litigation. A native of Montgomery County, Attorney Kiviat relocated back to and became admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland in 2001. He began representing clients in complex litigation in the areas of construction design and defects, products liability and other commercial matters. He also represented clients in a number of transactions where he negotiated and drafted construction contracts. He later went on to represent builders and real estate developers in a variety of commercial matters. In 2012, Attorney Kiviat opened his own civil litigation practice in Bethesda, Maryland. He attended Tulane University as an undergraduate student and received a Bachelor of the Arts with honors in 1989. He then attended law school at the California Western School of Law and graduated in 1992 after receiving an award for outstanding trial skills. Attorney Kiviat currently represents plaintiffs and defendants in an assortment of commercial matters. As an experienced litigator, he has represented clients at countless trials and has won punitive damages for clients in two such proceedings. He is experienced representing individuals, businesses and organizations from the initiation of a case through the completion of trial. He has worked in various settings including two of Marylands largest firms and has been in private practice since 1992. Longman & Van Grack is proud to announce that one of our attorneys, Adam Van Grack, has been named to the Advisory Board for Texas Sports Safety. Texas Sports Safety is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to make sports safety and injury prevention part of every sports, fitness, and recreation program. Adam has spent many years advising individuals and entities on sports and recreation law issues, and he has also served on multiple executive boards for sports and recreation entities. Texas Sports Safety aims to train coaches, trainers, counselors, parents, and athletes in sports safety preparedness and sports injury prevention with the goal of providing a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth sports activities. We are proud that one of our attorneys within the firm's Sports and Recreation Law Practice was selected to aid in the implementation of such laudable goals.
