Longman & Van Grack Sponsors Victims’ Rights Art Exhibit: “Finding My Own Voice”
Longman & Van Grack is proud to be a sponsors of Artist & Maker Studios’ inaugural Victims’ Rights Art Exhibit in Rockville, Maryland to coincide with National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in April 2016. Longman & Van Grack regularly supports the local Washington Metropolitan Area’s art community and is also proud to help victims of crimes find their voice through art.
This art exhibit titled “Finding My Own Voice” is for artists (and creatives) who are themselves survivors of crime, their families and loved ones, and the families and loved ones of victims who have not survived.
Artists & Makers Studios’ Executive Director, Judith HeartSong explains that this art exhibit is for these victims “to share their thoughts and feelings through art and the written word.” This exhibit, curated by Judith HeartSong, will offer the opportunity for survivors and those affected by crime to publicly share paintings, drawings, mixed media art, writings and sculpture that expresses the pain, turmoil, growth, and healing that can follow in the aftermath of violent crime – in a safe and nurturing environment.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to view this powerful work, and share in the healing that can result from sharing ones’ story.
This inaugural victims’ rights art exhibit — “Finding My Own Voice” — will open on Friday, April 1st with a reception open to the public between, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at:
