Robb Longman Speaks about PPP Loan Forgiveness and Tax Relief under the CARES Act
On Monday, May 4, 2020, Longman & Van Grack Tax Attorney, Robb Longman, will be speaking on a panel for the ABA Section on Taxation regarding supplemental COVID-19 relief funding for businesses as part of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) of the recently-passed CARES Act. Mr. Longman’s panel will specifically focus on how business PPP borrowers can possibly optimize their specific use of the federal proceeds and — at the same time — maximize the loan forgiveness degree of the PPP.
The discussion will cover the following: (1) the specific requirements for PPP loan forgiveness, (2) how to achieve tax-free PPP loan forgiveness, (3) how to maximize PPP loan forgiveness and minimizing PPP forgiveness pitfalls, (4) remediation of PPP forgiveness reductions, and (5) the PPP forgiveness application process. Mr. Longman’s panel will also address the CARES Act’s employee retention credit and Social Security tax deferral which exists under the CARES Act.
